Mitchell Akselrad is a writer and director whose work is driven by a love of storytelling. Emphasizing character, atmosphere, and visual detail, he brings a narrative sensibility and cinematic language to projects ranging from branded content to television and feature film.

As a director, Akselrad has created films and commercial work for brands including Avis, PGA, the New York Jets, the New Orleans Saints, and the Great Oaks fellowship, as well as projects for Aston Martin, Porsche, and Macallan.

Akselrad first established himself as a screenwriter in television. He wrote and produced on all seasons of AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies, rising to the level of Co-Executive Producer. His current projects in development are partnered with Thunder Road Films, HYBE America, MACRO Television Studios, and he has written projects for studios and networks including AMC, Hulu, FX, Fox 21, New Regency, and Warner Bros.

He began his career while still at the University of Michigan, where he received multiple honors including the Hopwood Award (First Prize), the Lawrence Kasdan Screenwriting Scholarship, the Peter & Barbara Benedek Screenwriting Award, and the Arthur Miller Award of the U-M Club of New York Scholarship. His feature screenplay Titans of Park Row! was voted onto the Hollywood Black List, recognizing the best unproduced screenplays in the industry.
